It's my third stained glass looking Piazza card. I think it would look a lot cooler with a Met logo in the background, but perhaps that's just me. I was a big fan of Studio as a kid, I spent a lot of money on packs from its inaugural set in 1991 up through 1995. I'm not sure how well those sets stand the test of time, but the 1994 set still reminds me of the team locker setups that they used to have at the Hall of Fame.

So anyone else out there a fan of Studio when it first came out?

I must've sat that year of Studio out, but that Stained Glass card is very nice. I'm sure you've seen the 2008 TSC cards that featured a stained glass pattern.
ReplyDeleteThat's just you. It looks plenty fine with the Dodgers logo.
ReplyDeleteThe Dodger logo is the ONLY logo that should be behind Piazza.
ReplyDeleteSigh.
Colbey, yes I have seen those but I haven't picked one up yet because the autos make them a bit pricey. There are lots of failed Mets prospects that the Mets were smart enough to trade away in that set.
ReplyDeleteNight Owl and Greg, so if you were betting men, would you be putting money on Piazza going into the hall with a Dodger hat?
Piazza won't because the Dodgers screwed him over. He always wears a Dodgers cap in my mind though.
ReplyDeleteI think he goes in with a Met cap too, I think the game following 9/11 pushes it over any debatable edge.
ReplyDeleteStill holding out hope he goes in as a Dodger. If not for Tommy Lasorda and the Dodgers, who knows if Piazza is even in the majors.
ReplyDeleteI was intrigued with Studio back in 1991... but never chased any of the wax after that. However... I'm a huge fan of acetate... and this insert set is beautiful!
